The stand for the Lenovo Thinkpad E495 (E490) is designed with three important purposes in mind:

- It improves convection cooling when the fan is off, as it elevates the laptop and does not block any vents.
- If you use a DELL WD15 dock, it protects the USB-C port, which is very long and puts a lot of force on the connector.
