This rear camera shield is specifically developed to give your Tesla HW3 rear camera an extra degree of protection. It helps prevent dirt and elements from accumulating on the camera lens, contributing to a clearer and more reliable view when reversing or parking your car.
The shield is a redesigned version created with a focus on improved aesthetics and a precise fit. It ensures smoother surfaces and a perfectly centered position, resulting in a more integrated and professional appearance. This design is 1:1 compatible with the previous custom-made version and fits Tesla Model S, Model X, Model 3, and Model Y with HW3 hardware, including models produced up to 2023.
For the best durability and resistance to the Danish weather and UV radiation, it is recommended to use materials such as ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate) for the production of this shield. Materials like PLA are not suitable for this purpose as they may have insufficient heat resistance under sunlight. ASA is also known to be more hydrophobic than PETG, which can help keep the camera dry.
Installation is straightforward with a friction fit that ensures the shield stays securely in place without obscuring the camera's field of view. If the fit feels loose, a minimal adjustment in size (e.g., in 1% increments) may be necessary, especially for materials that tend to shrink after printing.
Important: This rear camera shield is not compatible with Tesla HW4 models from 2024 onwards, as these have a different camera housing.
