The Amazon Warrior is a Roman sculpture that is a copy of a Greek bronze made by Cresilas around 440 BC. The sculpture depicts an Amazon warrior wounded below her right breast and is inspired by Greek mythology, where Amazon warriors were strong women who fought against the Greeks. This sculpture is a reproduction of the known Greek original that entered a sculpture competition in the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus in western Asia Minor around 440 BC. The Amazon Warrior sculpture, believed to have been created by Cresilas, won third prize in the competition.
The sculpture is on display at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore.
