This is a skill-building lesson where students are challenged with designing simple 3d modular knots that can accommodate 1/4' wooden sticks in a way that allows the creation of a larger 3d structure. It's a great introduction to 3d printing without the need for previous 3d modelling experience.
By using Meta-Modular methodology, it offers an option to customise, share and modify the lesson, making this lesson scalable in terms of size and complexity to meet different learning objectives across multiple degrees and disciplines. In this version, we create a 3D sign for the school's Science Night based on a model font. The lesson ensures successful project execution by a small group of 7-8th grade students within a limited timeframe.
The lesson aligns with NGSS and Common Core standards.
